Dr. Ehsan Bhutta Inspects Ali Mardan Khan’s Tomb, Directs Immediate Repairs

Lahore – Secretary of Tourism, Archaeology and Museums, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, Inspects  Ali Mardan Khan’s Tomb today to assess ongoing conservation work and issue directives for urgent improvements. During the site visit, he was briefed by Director Conservation Anjum Qureshi and consultants Maqsood Malik and Muhammad Hassan.

Monument Tour & Directives

Dr. Bhutta walked through the monument’s interiors and exterior. He directed that minor repairs be undertaken immediately. And also emphasized that “progress on the passage and grills in the windows must be expedited.”

He specifically ordered that the 400-meter tunnel wall treatment, along with illumination and plantation, be initiated at once and completed within two months. He added that though full conservation may take longer, “short-term measures must be prioritized.”

Emphasis on Tourism Appeal

While acknowledging that full restoration will take time, Dr. Bhutta underscored the need to boost the site’s visual appeal. He praised the kashikari tile work and frescoes, calling them “a treat to witness.” He expressed hope that this tallest and magnificent tomb will soon emerge as a major tourist attraction.
