Palace of Nawab Muzaffar Khan Saddozai

Palace of Nawab Muzaffar Khan Saddozai

The Palace of Nawab Muzaffar Khan Saddozai is located in Shujabad, Multan District, Punjab, Pakistan. Nawab Muzaffar Khan Saduzai ruled Multan for 36 years but in 1818 he was martyred by Ranjit Singh’s army and his rule over Multan came to an end.

Nawab Muzaffar Khan was the last Afghan governor of Multan. He was born in 1757 and succeeded his father at Shujaabad on 18 October 1775 at the age of 18. He was restored by the King of Kabul, Timur Shah Durrani, who expelled the Sikhs and appointed Muzaffar Khan as the governor (subedar) of Multan.

The palace is in a dilapidated condition inside the historical wall of Shujaabad. There is a plan to restore this historic site along with other buildings in South Punjab under the Annual Development Plan 2018-19. The project is proposed to be completed in two years and is estimated to cost around Rs 15 million.
