Chowkandi Graveyard
Chowkandi Graveyard or Chaukhandi Tombs is located in Malir District, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is famous all over the world for its beautiful and unique tombs. The cemetery is spread over an area of more than two and a half kilometers. The famous tradition about these graves is that the soldiers of the Arab general Muhammad Bin Qasim who invaded Sindh in 710 AD are buried here. However, according to historians, these graves, are 300 to 500 years old. And it is the burial place of the chiefs of the Baloch tribes who settled in Sindh around the sixteenth century AD.
The architectural style of the tombs is similar to the historical cemetery of Makli in the Thatta area and the Satin in Rohri city of Upper Sindh which is similar to the tombs in Daru.
