Harand Fort
Harand Fort is located in Jampur District, Punjab, Pakistan. This fort is located about 25 km west of the town of Dajal. It was originally built by the Hindu Raja Harnakish in the name of his son Hari Nand. The word ‘Harrand’ may be a corrupted form of ‘Hari Nand’.
This fort is located between the Sulaiman Range on one side and the Indus River on the other. Despite being in a dilapidated condition, the fort has withstood the ravages of time and frequent floods. It is often hit by terrifying waves of stormwater during the rainy season.
The initial renovation and restoration of the fort will cost an estimated Rs 90 million. This scheme has been included in the Punjab Annual Development Program 2018-192. Work will begin as soon as funds are released.
