Muhammad Shamsuddin Sialvi Shrine

The Muhammad Shamsuddin Sialvi Shrine is located in Sial Sharif, Sargodha District, Punjab, Pakistan. Muhammad Shamsuddin Sialvi was a 20th-century Islamic scholar and spiritual leader. Khwaja Muhammad Shamsuddin Sialvi, popularly known as Pir Sial, was a Waliullah (saint) belonging to the Chishti order. His descendants, who are believed to have attained high status (one of them is explicitly attributed with the title of Qutb-ul-Aqtab), are also buried in the same shrine.

He was the founder of the Sialvi movement, a branch of the Sunni Barelvi movement. Sialvi was known for his advocacy of Islamic unity and his efforts to promote peace and harmony among different religious communities in the region.

History

Today, the Khanqah (Sufi convent) is one of the Chishti centres of Punjab and indeed the entire subcontinent. Many spiritual figures are or have been associated with Sial Sharif. Notably, the famous 20th-century saint Pir Mehr Ali Shah Golra Sharif was a loyal mureed (disciple) of Pir Sial Sharif.

Hazrat Pir Syed Haider Ali Shah, Astana Alia Jalalpur Sharif, both of whom were prominent mureeds of Pir Sial Lajpal, and many others, such as Pir Muhammad Karam Shah Al-Azhari of Bhera Sharif and Hazrat Maulvi Abdul Ghani Chishti of Barila Sharif.
