Margalla Trails Patrol Unit: A New Era of Safety for Trekkers
ISLAMABAD – The picturesque Margalla Hills, is a popular destination for both local and foreign trekkers. The trails there have seen a significant enhancement in security measures with the launch of the Margalla Trails Patrol Unit.
A Comprehensive Security System
The Margalla Trails Patrol Unit, inaugurated by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. It is a comprehensive security system to ensure the safety of visitors. This new unit, formed in just seven days, consists of foot patrols, motorcycle patrols, and mounted patrols.
The foot patrol team comprises 10 officials equipped with protective gear and kits. The motorcycle patrol unit includes 16 officials and six motorcycles, while the mounted patrol team has eight horses.
Ensuring Safety and Assistance
The primary purpose of setting up the Margalla Trails Patrol Unit is to provide a safe environment for citizens visiting the trails. The unit will also assist citizens who lose their way or require help in an emergency.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed hope that the enhanced security measures would increase the number of foreign and local visitors to the trails. He also directed officials to address the issue of poor mobile phone signals on the trails and review the installation of a mobile tower.
Vigilance Against Criminal Activities
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has assured that no illegal activities will be ignored and that Islamabad Police are vigilant at all times to deal with any such activities. He further stated that all possible measures will be taken to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property and to maintain public order.
