Tourism Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Receive More Support Ahead of Peak Season
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has announced renewed support for the Tourism Police as the province prepares for the upcoming summer tourist season. In a recent address, Commandant Tourism Police Umar Khan emphasized the vital role of the tourism police in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both domestic and international travelers.
The Tourism Police, a dedicated unit deployed across major tourist destinations such as Naran, Swat, Chitral, Kalash, and Nathiagali, has earned praise for its courteous service and professional conduct. Tourists have repeatedly expressed satisfaction with the assistance provided by these officers, who not only offer guidance but also help resolve issues on the ground.
Key Announcements by the KPCTA:
- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority will now provide fuel for patrolling vehicles to ensure the uninterrupted presence of tourism police across key areas.
- All existing problems faced by constables will be addressed on a priority basis.
- Efforts are underway to extend the contracts of tourism police personnel so they can continue serving during the upcoming peak season.
During a meeting at KPCTA headquarters attended by DSP Tourism Police Ismat Ara, Assistant Director Nomanullah, Assistant Director Zeeshan Ahmed, and ASI Muhammad Shahzad, Commandant Umar Khan praised the performance of the young officers. He highlighted their critical role in shaping the positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a safe, tourist-friendly region.
“The tourism police are the face of KP. Their professionalism reassures visitors and encourages tourism growth,” he stated. “With increased tourist inflow during the season, it’s essential to manage traffic, ensure road accessibility, and help tourists navigate hotel and restaurant congestion.”
A Safer, Smoother Experience for Tourists As part of a responsible tourism initiative, the Tourism Police are being mobilized to assist travelers, manage crowd control, and help resolve issues related to accommodation, transportation, and local services. Their presence at tourist hotspots plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visitor experience and maintaining order during high-traffic periods.
The province expects a significant tourist influx in the coming weeks, with scenic destinations like Kumrat, Malam Jabba, Galiyat, and the Kalash Valleys remaining top choices for holidaymakers.
