KP Tourism Authority and University of Peshawar Sign MoU to Strengthen Tourism Education

The KP Tourism Authority and University of Peshawar MoU marks a major step toward stronger tourism education and training in the province. The agreement brings together academic resources and the tourism sector’s needs to support young students who want to grow in this field.

Collaboration to Improve Tourism Training

The memorandum was signed by Director General Habibullah Arif and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Johar Ali. Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Dr. Abdul Samad, also attended the event. The agreement will help launch short courses in tourism, hotel management, and related fields.

Focus on Expanding Professional Skills

Dr. Abdul Samad urged the University of Peshawar to introduce new short courses. These programs will cover adventure tourism, forest tourism, hospitality, tour guiding, and travel operations. He said that the tourism sector should not remain limited to hotel management. Moreover, he added that trained graduates will support the service industry and create a better experience for tourists.

Opportunities for Students and Young Professionals

Professor Dr. Johar Ali explained that the partnership will give students better exposure. Many students from the university already work in archaeology, museums, and hotel management roles. Through this MoU, both institutions will open new paths for practical training and internships. This cooperation will also help develop tourism and culture in the province.

Future Plans for Tour Guide Training

DG Habibullah Arif highlighted how foreign countries classify tour guides by skill and language ability. He noted that proper training can help produce high-quality guides. With support from the University of Peshawar, the province can prepare skilled guides and build a stronger tourism workforce. The agreement creates room for new courses that will benefit both students and the industry.
