KP Declares 2025 as “Tirich Mir Year” to Celebrate 75th Anniversary of Historic Ascent
In a landmark announcement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has officially declared 2025 as the “Tirich Mir Year”, marking the 75th anniversary of the first successful ascent of Pakistan’s highest peak in the Hindu Kush Range — Tirich Mir (7,708 meters).
A National Tribute to Mountaineering Glory
First summited in 1950 by a Norwegian expedition, Tirich Mir stands as a towering symbol of adventure, resilience, and national pride. Now, in 2025, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is set to commemorate this historic achievement with a first-ever all-Pakistani summit attempt — a truly patriotic expedition that will see six of Pakistan’s top mountaineers embark on a mission to conquer the “Crown of the Hindu Kush.”
The First All-Pakistani Expedition to Tirich Mir
For the first time in history, KP is launching a national mountaineering mission led solely by Pakistani climbers. The selection will be based on strict criteria including proven mountaineering experience, physical endurance, technical climbing expertise, and an unshakable passion for the sport.
The expedition is scheduled to take place during June–July 2025, aligning with the prime climbing window and aiming to inspire a new generation of Pakistani adventurers.
A Call to Adventure – Are You Ready?
KPCTA is currently accepting applications from elite Pakistani climbers who meet the challenge. This is more than just a climb — it’s a journey of legacy, heritage, and national honor.
