Allah Hoo Trail
Allah Hu Trail is a 6.9 km long hiking track located in Kohat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This walking trail, reminiscent of Islamabad’s Margalla tracks, winds through aromatic wild herbs and offers breathtaking views across the sprawling valley.
It stretches across the rugged mountains between Kohat and Darra Adamkhel. Developed by the Pakistan Army, this track offers both adventure and stunning scenery.
The trail covers 6.9 kilometres. It begins at the historic Kotal Pass. For the first few metres, the path is level. Here, a parking area lets visitors leave their cars and motorcycles before starting the climb. From this point, hikers continue on foot.
As people climb higher, they often take breaks. Many bring food and tea for small picnic parties. Several stopovers provide good spots to rest and enjoy the surroundings. It usually takes three to four hours to reach the top, depending on one’s fitness.
At the summit, visitors find the striking ‘Allah Hoo’ sign painted boldly. This spot also features a sitting area, BBQ pits, and a charming gazebo. It’s perfect for those who want to cook, relax, and take in the views.
Stunning Views and Nighttime Beauty
From the peak, you can see the wide landscapes of Kohat and Darra Adamkhel. Even during the hot months, a cool breeze makes the experience pleasant. Hikers also feel a sense of joy and achievement when they reach the top.
At night, the ‘Allah Hoo’ sign lights up in red. This creates a magical sight against the dark mountains. However, many visitors wish for safety grills along the rough route. They believe these would protect people from dangerous falls.

Furthermore, groups of young boys often drive from Kohat city. They reach the base camp in just 15 minutes. Many try to climb to the top, but only a few actually make it all the way. A local climber named Hashim shared that he and his friends usually come back from halfway up.
