Nilt Fort

The strategic fort of Nagar, known as Nilt Fort, played a crucial role in the region’s history. Located along the route to Nagar, it famously resisted British forces for six months in 1891 when Colonel Durand led a campaign to secure trade passage to Russia.

Ultimately, due to a local betrayal, British troops reached the top and captured the fort, ending Nagar’s centuries-old independence. Today, visiting this area lets travelers imagine dramatic episodes of colonial history against a backdrop of stunning valleys.
