KP Launches Pilot Project in Galiyat to Restore Natural Beauty of Tourist Destinations
Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has unveiled comprehensive plans to restore the natural beauty and charm of its scenic tourist destinations. According to the Secretary of Culture, Tourism, Archaeology, and Museums, Dr. Abdul Samad, a pilot project of solid waste management has been launched in Galyat. This will soon be expanded to other major tourism regions of the province.
Under this initiative, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums has designed an integrated cleaning and waste management program. Featuring scientific methods for garbage disposal and recycling. The project aims to highlight the natural beauty of valleys like Galiyat by ensuring an eco-friendly environment for visitors.
Cleanliness & Modern Tourist Facilities
The pilot project in Galyat will introduce a modern solid waste collection and disposal system, designed to meet international standards. For the convenience of tourists, new help desks, washrooms, and facility centers will be established across key locations. The number of tourist facility centers and basic amenities will also be significantly increased, making travel more comfortable for both local and foreign visitors.
Expanding to Malakand and Hazara
Dr. Abdul Samad announced that after the successful completion of the Galiyat pilot project, this model will be expanded in phases to tourist destinations across Malakand and Hazara divisions. This step will not only enhance the tourist experience but also create new employment opportunities for local communities.
Long-Term Tourism Vision
The initiative is part of the tourism vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and the good governance roadmap of the Chief Secretary KP, where cleanliness and environment-friendly measures have been given top priority. A comprehensive land-use and master plan for Galyat is also nearing completion. This will modernize existing facilities while planning sustainable tourism development for the next twenty years.
