Spanish Embassy Counsellor Visits Peshawar’s Heritage Landmarks

The Counsellor of the Spanish  Embassy, Mr Felix Pernas Ramirez, visits Peshawar’s prominent heritage sites, including the Peshawar Museum, Sethi House, and Masjid Mahabat Khan. During his visit, Mr Ramirez expressed his appreciation for the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Director General of Archaeology and Museums for their commendable work in preserving and restoring these cultural landmarks.

During his visits to the Peshawar Museum, the Spanish Embassy Counsellor observed the extensive collection of Gandhara-era artefacts and historic manuscripts. He highlighted how such institutions strengthen local cultural identity while offering vast tourism potential. At Sethi House, a fine example of traditional architecture in Peshawar, he noted the building’s restoration and the interpretive signage that guides visitors. Finally, at Masjid Mahabat Khan, he commended the ongoing maintenance of the 17th-century mosque as a vital part of the city’s heritage fabric.

Mr Ramirez said that the preservation of such sites not only enriches the urban environment but also opens opportunities for sustainable cultural tourism in the region. He encouraged continued collaboration between government authorities, heritage organisations, and international partners to enhance visitor experiences further.

This visit underscores the increasing global interest in Peshawar’s heritage assets and emphasizes the importance of well-managed restoration and tourism infrastructure in safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural legacy.
