Red Fort
The Red Fort is located in Muzaffarabad District, Kashmir, Pakistan. The fort is also known as Muzaffarabad Fort, Rutta Qila, and Chak Fort. It is situated near Challah Bridge on Neelam Road.
The fort comprises multiple levels, including a main gate on the eastern side and terraces descending towards the river. Sultan Muzaffar Khan of the Bomba Dynasty, the founder of Muzaffarabad, completed the fort in 1646. The fort’s location was chosen for its strategic advantage, surrounded by the Neelum River on three sides, providing natural defense.
The devastating earthquake in 2005 caused significant damage to the fort, with many parts of its structure collapsing.
