Wazir Bagh

Wazir Bagh

Wazir Bagh, also known as Wazir Garden, is situated in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Nestled in the heart of Peshawar’s southern precincts is one of the city’s oldest and most cherished green spaces. Laid out in the early 19th century by Sardar Fateh Mohammad Khan Barkzai.

The garden once unfurled across four enclosures featuring shady pipal trees, fruit trees and meandering lawns. Over time it served as a favourite retreat for morning walks, family picnics and quiet repose under historic trees.

Though its greenery has faded under the pressures of urban growth and neglect, recent restoration initiatives mark a new chapter. Today, visitors can stroll along refurbished paths, glimpse the vestiges of its original layout, and consider how Peshawar’s garden legacy is being re-imagined for modern urban life.
