Napier Barracks

Napier Barracks is located on Shahrah-e-Faisal Road in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is now called Liaquat Barracks. The barracks were named after Charles Napier, a British leader in India. In 1842, after taking over Sindh, he said, ‘I have sinned.’

The Napier Barracks in Karachi were built by David Mackenzie using local buff Gizri stone. The building has covered verandas to let air in and provide shade. Charles Napier, the first governor of Sindh (from 1843 to 1847), had the barracks built. They used the local buff Gizri stone. The main building faced the wind, and the covered verandas and high ceilings inside were made to keep the inside cool.
