Markazi Jamia Masjid

Markazi Jamia Masjid is located in the heart of Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan. The 121-year-old Markazi Jamia Masjid, Rawalpindi, is a masterpiece of Islamic and Mughal-style architecture. It is one of the few historical mosques in the Potohar region.

The foundation stone of the historic mosque was laid by Pir Mehr Ali Shah Golra Sharif and Pir of Meera Sharif Pir Allah Bakhsh in 1896 and the construction was completed in 1902. The road on which this historical mosque is located on the busy highway of the city was also renamed Jama Masjid Road.

The mosque is a masterpiece of Islamic art in an area of ​​18 kanals. 10,000 people can pray in it at the same time. The mosque has 3 domes and twelve minarets. And a pond for ablution in the middle of the courtyard. Beautiful carvings are done on the walls, pillars and ceilings of the mosque.

In the construction and renovation of the mosque, the unconventional colors, materials, and architectural styles are an example of the development of local history. The central Jamia Masjid is managed by the Awqaf Department.
