Attabad Lake
Attabad Lake, aka Shish Kat Lake, is located near the village of Attabad in Hunza District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. The lake came into being on 4 January 2010 due to major landslides and blockage of the Hunza River. It is now a turquoise gem in the Hunza Valley and a symbol of beauty born from tragedy.

The landslides blocked the flow of the Hunza River for five months and submerged more than 19 km (12 miles) of the Karakoram Highway. In the first week of June 2010, the lake was 21 km long and more than 100 m deep.
The lake today draws tourists for boating, jet skiing, and its surreal views. Surrounded by steep cliffs and snowy peaks, it offers an unforgettable experience of nature’s power and resilience.
