Besham
Besham is a tourist attraction located in Shangla District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is also called Besham Qila, which earns its name—“the fort where there is no evening.”
Surrounded by mountains that cast early shadows, a bustling mountain town marks the transition from the relatively easier terrain of lower KKH to the daunting ascent toward Chilas. It is a lively town with neon-lit shops, colorful bazaars, and a mix of Pakistani and Chinese goods.
Historically significant, Besham gained prominence with the construction of the Indus Valley Road in 1959, which later evolved into the modern Karakoram Highway.
