British HQ of Derajat Division

British HQ of Derajat Division is an archaeological site located in Dera Ismail Khan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. A part of this division is also located in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Historically, the Darajat Division was a cultural region in central Pakistan, where the provinces of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan meet. It was bounded by the Indus River in the east and Mount Sulaiman in the west. This region owes its existence to the migration of the Baloch in the 15th century.

During the British era, the 1st (Peshawar) Division was part of the Northern Army. Later called the Northern Command, it was headquartered in Peshawar and had mand stations at various locations including Chitral, Darush, Malakand, Chakdara, Dargiya, Abazan, Jamras, Shabqadar and Mardan. The division remained in the area throughout the war and was mobilized for action on the North West Frontier on several occasions during the Great War.
