Chinese Cemetery

Chinese Cemetery

Chinese Cemetery is located in Danyor, Gilgit District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It is locally known as the “China Monument”. Set in a serene garden surrounded by lush trees and flowering plants.

This cemetery is the final resting place of the Chinese engineers and labourers who poured their blood into the construction of the Karakoram Highway in the 1960s and 70s. It is a manifestation of China’s sacrifices for Pakistan, which is right above the Karakoram Road.

The site features a white square tower with Chinese inscriptions and an orderly arrangement of symbolic graves, all set in a quiet and reflective space. It is a poignant reminder of the human cost behind one of the world’s most challenging road projects and a must-visit for those interested in the history of the CPEC and Sino-Pak relations.
