Jahlar Lake
Jahlar Lake is located in Khushab District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is one of the three lakes, alongside Uchhali and Khabikki Lakes, that form the Uchhali Wetlands Complex. The lake is spread over 17 hectares and was recognized as a Ramsar site in 1996.
It is designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention due to its ecological significance. About 45 types of birds have been observed around the lake, highlighting its importance as a bird habitat.
The lake is relatively small, covering an area of approximately 17 hectares (about 42 acres), and is known for its brackish to saline water. It lies near the Soon Valley, close to the village of Jahlar, and is part of the Salt Range region in Punjab.
Its water contains strong acidic elements, due to which there is no life in the lake.
