Kallar Kahar Lake
Kallar Kahar Lake is located in Kallar Kahar, Chakwal District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located 25 km southwest of Chakwal, along the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2). The lake is visible in front of you after getting off at Kallar Kahar Interchange. It is the most famous and easily accessible lake in Punjab. This saltwater lake is quite popular among tourists.
The lake is two miles long, one mile wide, and up to four feet deep. It is a saltwater lake that receives water from rainfall as well as some springs.
There is a famous story about the salty water of the lake here. At one time, the water of the lake used to be sweet. One day, when women were filling their pitchers, Baba Farid of Pakpattan reached here and asked them for water to drink. A woman replied that the water is salty, so how will you drink it? Baba Farid replied that it is okay, the water is salty. Saying this, he left from there, but that day the water in all the pitchers of Kallar Kahar had become salty. The lake has been salty since that day.

To reach the historical and religious sites in Kallar Kahar, such as the Takht-e-Babri, the shrine of Hazrat Ahu Bahu Sarkar, and the museum, one has to pass through the shores of this lake. There is an amusement park on the banks of the lake, which adds to its beauty. A large number of peacocks are also found here. To see peacocks dance on the lake shore on a moonlit night, a large number of tourists also visit here. Opposite it, on a hill, there is a Punjab Tourism Resort where accommodation and food are available. From there, one can have a great view of the lake and the birds that come to it.
