Khewra Salt Mine
The Khewra Salt Mine is located in Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located approximately 160 km south of Islamabad. The mines are renowned as the world’s second-largest salt reserves. These mines, considered the oldest in the subcontinent, produce high-quality salt with 98% purity.
Tourists can explore marvels such as a mosque, a model of Minar-e-Pakistan, and the dazzling Sheesh Mahal—all crafted from salt bricks. The mines attract over 40,000 visitors monthly and also offer experimental asthma therapy, leveraging the antibacterial properties of salt particles.
