Lakshmi Building Lahore

Lakshmi Building Lahore is a historical building near Mall Road located in Lahore District, Punjab, Pakistan. It was home to notable figures like Sa’adat Hassan Manto. The building holds many memories for its residents. 

The Lakshmi Mansion was originally Sir Shadi Lal’s personal kothi. He sold it to the Lakshmi Insurance Company around 1930. When Pakistan came into being, many of the flats were allotted to mohajirs. However, as commercial prospects grew on Mall Road, shop owners began cajoling residents to sell their homes. One part of the mansion was completely bought by shop owners and brought down to make way for a market. Only a handful of quarters remain.

In addition to the Lakshmi Mansion in Lahore, there is also a historical Lakshmi Building in Karachi located on M. A. Jinnah Road.
