Lohari Gate

Lohari Gate is one of the gates of the Walled City of Lahore located in Lahore District, Punjab, Pakistan. This is the oldest gate of the walled city. It was built during the reign of Akbar. The original name of which was actually Lahore Gate which was corrupted to Lohari.

The direction of this gate was towards Ichhra, which was considered the central area of ​​that time, so it was named the Lahore gate. The first Muslim ruler of the subcontinent, Qutbuddin Aibak, is buried next to this gate. It is said that Malik Ayaz was the ruler of Lahore during the reign of Mahmud Ghaznavi. So he rebuilt Lahore in the form of a town at that time. During which the population of the city lived in the area around this gate.

Many gates of Lahore were rebuilt during the British era. However, Lohari was the only gate that remained intact in its original form. And now it is considered to be one of the busiest business areas of the city. Where often even walking is not easy. While along with it is the busiest Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore.
