Lowari Pass
Lowari Pass is located in Upper Dir District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is one of the four major mountain passes providing access to Dir and Chitral. The other three are: Dorah Pass, Shandur Pass, and Broghil Pass.
At an elevation of 10,450 feet, the historic pass is one of Pakistan’s most challenging mountain crossings. Before the Lowari Tunnel was completed in 2017, this treacherous, winding pass was the only route connecting Dir to Chitral. Traversing it offers travelers breathtaking views, steep switchbacks, and a sense of awe at nature’s raw majesty.
