Mianghundi Recreational Park
Mianghundi Recreational Park, located in Quetta, Balochistan, is a gem of natural beauty and biodiversity. The park is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, offering a unique blend of recreational activities and wildlife conservation efforts. The park has 5 gates. The first gate is for the camping area, the second is for the zoo and playland, the third is for the walking and jogging track, the fourth gate is for sports facilities and the fifth is for the National Park and Museum.
In 2021, the Wildlife Department of Balochistan has made significant progress in establishing a wildlife sanctuary-cum-zoo within the park. This initiative aims to provide a dedicated research facility for the conservation of animal life and public entertainment. The zoo has state-of-the-art facilities to ensure the best experience for its visitors.
The sanctuary will serve as a platform for scientific research on wildlife. The government has allocated the required funds for setting up the zoo, reflecting its commitment to promoting wildlife conservation. The Chief Minister has also directed the construction of rest areas in the National Park.
In a major step towards wildlife conservation in 2023, the Balochistan government recovered 40 cranes from the possession of two suspects during an operation in Barkhan district.
The Park is being developed as a recreation center with a children’s playground and a walking track for exercise enthusiasts. The government also plans to build basic infrastructure with five guesthouses in the national park.
