Mubarak Urdu Library

Mubarak Urdu Library is located in the Bahawalpur District, Punjab, Pakistan. It was founded by Mubarak Shah Jilani in Pir Da Goth town (now known as Mohammad Abad), near Sanjarpur area of Sadiqabad in 1926. Now it has more than 26,000 books and rare texts.

Mubarak Shah Jilani himself was a poet who used to publish a monthly magazine called “Lala Sahra”. Started in 1933, this is considered the first Urdu literary magazine in the state of Bahawalpur. Since he was fond of collecting books, magazines, journals and other writings, the foundation of this library was laid from his collection, which was further developed by his son Syed Anis Shah Jilani.
