National Folk Festival
National Folk Festival, also known as Lok Mela, is a vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage. It is organized by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa every year. This festival usually takes place in Shakarparian in Islamabad.
The fair showcases the diversity of Pakistan’s traditional culture, with provincial pavilions, food courts, folk musical theatres, and displays of arts and crafts from all corners of Pakistan. It provides a unique opportunity to experience the colors and warmth of diverse cultures from across Pakistan.
The folk fair begins with a traditional Dastarbandi ceremony to honor a master craftsman. Hundreds of artisans, folk artists, rural musicians and folk dancers from all over Pakistan participate in the festival.
