Ondra Poygah
Ondra Poygah is a hiking trail located in the Hunza District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It refers to a remarkable man-made staircase consisting of over 1,500 stone steps that ascend from the village of Ghulmit to the historical ruins of Ondra Fort atop the Ondra Hill.
Constructed by local villagers during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, the project was a community effort aimed at preserving heritage and boosting local tourism. These stairs are considered among the highest in Pakistan and offer panoramic views of the Hunza Valley, including Attabad Lake, Borith Lake, Hussaini Bridge, and Passu Cones. The stairs are ideal for hiking and connect visitors with the region’s rich Silk Road history.
