Rohtas Fort

Rohtas Fort is located in Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is a 16th-century fortress built by Sher Shah Suri on the rocky plateau of Pothuhar. It is an amazing masterpiece of Muslim military architecture. Its construction shows a fusion of Turkish and Indian architecture.

The fort was built on a small hill with a military point of view to keep the Gakhar community under control, who were always ready to revolt. In 1997, UNESCO declared this place a World Heritage Site.

Spans over 200 acres and features 12 monumental gates, deep wells, royal quarters, and a mosque. It is one of the largest and most formidable forts in South Asia, perfect for history buffs and heritage explorers.
