Sharda
Sharda is one of the most enchanting towns in the Neelum Valley, known for its historical and spiritual significance. Situated along the wide Neelum River, it was once an ancient center of learning—home to the famed Sharda Peeth, which some historians identify either as a temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess of knowledge or as an ancient university.
Today, remnants of this heritage stand quietly amid the village’s scenic backdrop. Sharda is also visually charming, with quaint wooden houses whose sod rooftops are often grazed by donkeys—an amusing sight unique to this area.
