Shishkat
Shish Kat is a picturesque village located in Hunza Valley, Hunza District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It gained prominence after the 2010 Attabad landslide disaster, which caused the formation of a lake extending up to this area. Although the lake is commonly known as Attabad Lake, locals in Shish Kat refer to it as Shishkat Lake since it begins here.
Surrounded by mountains and offering serene lakeside views, it is now a peaceful getaway with locally owned cottages and welcoming hospitality. The village has a fascinating history, including tales of Silk Road trade routes and ancestral settlement dating back to 1922, when a local porter named Safar Ali was rewarded with land after a dramatic trial proved his innocence. This land became the foundation for what is now Shishkat.
