Ultar Glacier

Ultar Glacier

Ultar Glacier is located in the Hunza District, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. The glacier, with its jagged and chaotic peaks, forms a dramatic natural wall behind the town of Altit. These high, wild summits add a sense of grandeur to the region, feeding icy streams and forming waterfalls that cascade into the valley below.

The glacier is not only a geological wonder but also a source of awe and inspiration for visitors exploring the upper reaches of Hunza.

Visible from Altit Fort and the surrounding areas. It is a striking glacier descending from the Ultar Sar mountain. Often cloaked in mist and clouds, it contributes to the region’s dramatic scenery and feeds streams that irrigate the valley below. Its beauty is particularly noticeable during overcast weather, creating an atmosphere both mystical and melancholic.
