The Peshawar Revitalization Plan has received in-principle approval during a follow-up meeting chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi. This ambitious initiative aims to modernize the provincial capital, making it more beautiful and convenient. For tourists, these enhancements promise a vibrant, accessible Peshawar with upgraded infrastructure and attractions. Travelers can look forward to exploring a revitalized city that blends history with contemporary appeal.

Key Directives from the Chief Minister

Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi emphasized practical progress with a clear strategy. He directed authorities to review projects closely and advance feasible ones. For example, feasibility studies, PC-1s, and other requirements for new projects must be completed timely.

Additionally, the goal is to turn Peshawar into a modern hub. Effective implementation could transform the city’s face in one or two years. As a result, this plan supports sustainable urban development, benefiting residents and visitors alike.

Overview of Major Projects in the Plan

The Peshawar Revitalization Plan includes dozens of projects costing billions under various departments like PDA, PHE, Local Council Board, Irrigation, Communications, and Highways Authority. Work is underway on the feasibility and design for upgrading 35 main urban highways.

Moreover, key initiatives involve undergrounding electricity wires from Pir Zakori Flyover to Suri Bridge and from Aman Chowk to Karkhano. These are expected to launch by May this year. In addition, consultancy services are hired for underpasses at traffic hotspots.

Enhancing Connectivity and Green Spaces

The plan prioritizes a link road from Hayatabad Industrial Estate to Northern Bypass and Frontier Road. It also includes constructing the missing link of Nasir Bagh to Regi Model Town Ring Road.

Furthermore, new theme parks on Khoshgi and Takhta Bagh Road will add recreational spots. A Hi-Tech Children’s Park, Clover Leaf Interchange at Pir Zakori Intersection, and Frame of Peshawar at Chamkani are featured. These elements will make Peshawar more family-friendly for tourists.

Cultural and Infrastructure Upgrades

A consultant is hired for the conservation and rehabilitation of Wall City Peshawar, preserving its historical charm. The plan incorporates a detailed public transport strategy with future modeling studies.

In addition, rehabilitation of the Kabul River Canal, Budhni Nallahas been and irrigation infrastructure is also in line. PC-1 for repairing old street/road lights and installing new ones is done. Other projects include four new slaughterhouses, water supply schemes, sanitation improvements, electric road cleaners, Shahi Katha rehabilitation, and a sewage treatment plant at Faqir Kalay.

Satisfaction with Ongoing Programs

Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi expressed satisfaction with the Peshawar Uplift Program. He directed the completion of the remaining works on priority. This ongoing effort complements the new plan, ensuring steady progress.
