Chapuwala

Chapuwala

Chapuwala is an archaeological site located in the Bahawalpur District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is associated with the Mature Harappan phase of the Indus Valley Civilization, dating back to approximately 3500 BCE to 1800 BCE. The site, currently in a ruined condition, measures about 288 meters by 424 meters with a height of 4 meters. It remains unprotected and is under private ownership.

Chapuwala is part of the Cholistan Desert region, which hosts numerous ancient settlements from the Indus Valley Civilization. These sites were extensively surveyed during the 1974–77 Cholistan Survey led by archaeologist Mohammad Rafique Mughal. The findings from this survey were published in the Lahore Museum Bulletin in 1991.
