Gulmit
Gulmit Village is located in the Hunza District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is a charming village in the Gojal Valley of upper Hunza. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Passu Cones, Gulmit offers sweeping views where the Hunza River meanders lazily, its gentle flow adding a soft cadence to the valley’s tranquility.
It is the largest settlement in Gojal Valley, Upper Hunza. Nestled along the Hunza River, Gulmit has long been a cultural and administrative heart of the region. Once the summer capital of the princely state of Hunza, the village hosted royal courts where disputes were settled, issues discussed, and local traditions such as polo matches and folk music flourished.
In autumn, Gulmit transforms into a sleepy haven with golden trees shedding their leaves, while narrow lanes echo with the laughter of children. Its historical significance and charming scenery make it a must-visit stop along the Karakoram Highway.
