Baltoro Glacier
Baltoro Glacier is located in Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is located alongside with Godwin-Austen Glacier in Concordia. The glacier is located near K2 in the Karakoram mountain range, the second-highest peak in the world at 8,611 meters (28,251 ft). It stretches 63 km (39 mi) in length, making it one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions.
The Baltoro Glacier serves as the source of the Braldu River, which flows into the Shigar River as a tributary. The Shigar River, in its course, acts as a tributary of the Indus River.
Four of the seven longest glaciers in the world outside the North and South Poles are in Pakistan. In which the second place is Siachen Glacier (76 km), Biafo Glacier (67 km) is on third place, Baltoro Glacier (63 km) is in fifth place, and on the seventh is Batura Glacier (57 km).
